Why Fathom Thread
A fathom is how sailors measured depth, one rope length at a time, so they could understand the water beneath them. We borrowed the word because the places you love have their own depth, and you can fathom them. The thread is the rest. Real, made by hand, something you can hold.
Fathom Thread started with a simple frustration. You come home from a trip that changed something in you, and all you have are photos on a phone. We wanted a way to keep a place closer than that. Not a souvenir from a gift shop, but the exact spot, named in your words, marked with its real coordinates and the year it mattered.
So that is what we make. You pick a product, you tell us the place, and we print it to order. Your mountain, your lake, your trailhead, on something you will reach for again and again.
You should not need a frame to keep a place. You should be able to wear it.
